The head of the national Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero, will provide this Thursday his first management report to the Senate, whose members have already sent in advance and in writing just over 600 questions, most related to the coronavirus pandemic, although there are also consultations on the investigation into the alleged espionage committed during the government of Mauricio Macri.

The special session will begin at 3:00 pm and, while Cafiero will be present in the meeting room, most of the legislators will listen to the report via videoconference from their provinces.

Only the incumbent will be in the Senate, the vice president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and other authorities: the provisional president, Claudia Abdala de Zamora; the first vice president, Maurice Closs; and the second vice president, Laura Rodríguez Machado.

This will be the first time that Cafiero appears before Congress , an obligation imposed by the National Constitution so that the heads of ministers alternately attend, once a month, each chamber.

The last face-to-face parliamentary report was carried out by the official who occupied that place during the Macri government, Marcos Peña, on April 10, 2019.

Cafiero's response to the Senate

The chief of staff answered 624 questions, mostly from the opposition.

The special session will take place after the last two debates in which Together for Change and its allies of dissident Peronism withdrew in disagreement with the decision of the Front of All to include bills that were not linked to the coronavirus, such as the Rent law.

In his first presentation before the upper house, Cafiero will answer some 591 questions - which he has already received in the last month from the senators - and it is likely that other queries will be added during the course of his presentation.

The interblock with the most questions was Together for Change: radicalism sent 255 and PRO 151.

The only representative of the Neuquino Movement, Lucila Crexell, an ally of the opposition, sent 76 questions, while the Frente de Todos only asked about 51 questions.

According to what was expressed by the Head of Cabinet, originally the number of questions referred by the Upper House amounted to 869, but after its correction and systematization, the final number reached almost 600.

Most of the consultations revolve around the policies adopted in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, both to assist companies, workers, the unemployed, retirees and pensioners, as well as measures to control prices , the adequacy of activities educational and instrumentation of the application Cuid.AR.

As the formal deadline for sending questions from the senators was respected, there were only five allusions to the two topics that dominate much of the agenda: three on the alleged illegal espionage of the Federal Intelligence Agency and two on the Vicentin case .

But in Cafiero's team of collaborators they anticipate that they will occupy an important place in the live, along with the situation of the economy and the measures that the Government ordered to combat the coronavirus.
