The coronavirus crisis has not only changed the calendar of municipal elections, which will be completed on June 28 after the holding of the second round. It also postponed to July 31, exceptional context requires, the deadlines for the newly elected to vote the 2020 budgets of municipalities and inter-municipal. As for local taxation, the rates which had to be decided before April 30 will have to be decided before July 3, confirms Bercy. " It was necessary to give the municipal councils time to set up, " explains Philippe Laurent, secretary general of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) and mayor of Sceaux.
The fact remains that this postponement of votes comes at a time when the crisis has already severely affected the finances of local authorities.
