Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his hope that the upcoming summit of permanent members of the Security Council will help find common solutions to the challenges and modern threats facing them.
"The summit of Russia, China, France, the United States and Britain can play an important role in finding common solutions to modern challenges and threats and showing our shared commitment to the spirit of alliance, ideas and human values for which our fathers and grandfathers fought," Sputnik quoted Putin as saying in an article to the National Interest published today. Moscow has ideas and initiatives for the next meeting of the leaders of the five nuclear powers.
"The agenda of the next five summit proposed by Russia is very important and relevant to our country and the whole world, we have specific ideas and initiatives on all issues," Putin added.
It is noteworthy that Putin earlier proposed organizing a meeting of the leaders of the permanent members of the Security Council, while Russian presidential spokesman Dimitri Peskov confirmed at the end of January that China and France supported the initiative to hold the meeting.
