At the end of last month, the Citizen Party convened a special party member meeting to recommend the list of candidates for the 2020 Legislative Council election, and today (19th) held an oath meeting in Central, announcing that it will send five candidates to the democratic primary.

Among the five-person list, in terms of district direct elections, Kowloon East Tan Wenhao, New Territories East Yangyue Bridge and New Territories West Guojiaqi compete for re-election. On Hong Kong Island, Eastern District Councillor Zheng Dahong replaced Chen Shuzhuang, who was unable to be elected due to the sentence in the Zhanzhong case. The Eastern District Councillor Li Yuxin will play in the District Council (Second) and is expected to have the opportunity to shake the Democratic Party Tu Jinshen, Kwon Jun Yu and Tsuen Wan District Councillor Cen Aohui in the primary election.

Yu Ruowei praised Zheng Dahong for his commitment

Former Citizen Party leader Yu Ruowei said that the slogan of the Citizens’ election this time is "The more suppressed, the more stubborn", saying that Hong Kong people will defend their values ​​and lifestyles, and also called on the citizens to participate in the primary election to ensure that the democratic camp has the best candidates People are elected to the Legislative Council and more than half of the seats are elected.

She also named Zheng Dahong who recommended to run in the primary election on Hong Kong Island. She said that Zheng had a law degree like herself, but she studied law because her parents believed that the law can make more money, and Zheng Xiu hoped to borrow the law. He served Hong Kong people in the background and praised Zheng You for his commitment and bravery. Legislative Councillor Chen Shuzhuang said that at present, "one country, two systems" is being eroded, and candidates have the opportunity to be disqualified under the Minato City National Security Law. They believe that at this difficult time, the decision of everyone to still stand for election is moving.

Zheng Dahong said that he did regional work in North Point seven years ago. Until last year, he and his partymates "recovered North Point" and got six district parliament seats, pointing out that he would kick Guo Weiqiang in the future. He believes that the people of Hong Kong are not demanding, but just want democratic freedom, such as freedom of expression and reception of information. The only reason for the loss of national security is that there is no democracy in Hong Kong, and it is pointed out that if Hong Kong people enjoy democracy, they do not need to fight fiercely.

Zheng Xu pointed out that the future Citizens Party will promote international connections, such as the promotion of lifeboat policies, and the foreign government’s exemption of young people’s criminal record for participating in the anti-delivery campaign, but reiterated that these tasks are not collusion with foreign forces. Striving for visa-free arrangements for Hong Kong passports, etc. Ye Shuyi and Zhang Guojun and others often communicate with foreign countries, saying that the Citizens Party is doing similar work. Zheng also reiterated that he does not support Hong Kong independence and believes that "one country, two systems" is most beneficial to Hong Kong. Party leader Tan Wenhao said that the fight is for the next generation to not need to fight, and not to suffer the pain that Hong Kong people suffer today. He believes that it is not impossible for the Legislative Council to hold more than half of the seats, otherwise the two offices will not need to issue statements to criticize, and the National Security Law of the Minato District will not need to be linked to the election.
