Under the title "Yoga for Harmony and Peace", the Indian Embassy in Damascus, in cooperation with the Higher Committee for Yoga and Energy in Syria, held an event on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, which falls on June 21 of each year, in the city of Al-Galaa Sports in Damascus.

Today's event included exercises for yoga players who embodied the unified global movements of yoga as well as spiritual dances that express peace.

In a speech to him, the Indian ambassador in Damascus, Dr. Hafizur Rahman pointed out that yoga has become a life for millions of people in the world, exercise is a guarantee of health and well-being, as it is a bridge between the Indian and Syrian cultures and a way to spread the messages of love and peace and is the best tool to overcome depression.

Ambassador Hafizur Rahman stressed that India is a peace-loving country and presented yoga as a valuable gift to the people of the world because it helps focus between the mind and the body, noting that while the world faces the Corona pandemic, yoga has become more important in maintaining a healthy health system and an effective way to enhance immunity A sense of balance.

In a statement to reporters regarding the bilateral relations between India and Syria, Ambassador Hafizur Rahman affirmed that they are strong and historic, pointing out that his country is firm in its stances in support of Syria, which in turn supports India's stances in international and regional forums.

The event was attended by Firas Al-Azab, member of the Executive Bureau of the General Sports Federation, members of the Indian Embassy and a number of interested parties.
