Brazil exceeds one million cases of covid-19

Brazil reported more than a million confirmed cases of covid-19 and 48,954 deaths, marking a grim milestone for the South American country. The Ministry of Health announced 54,771 new cases on Friday, a record daily peak that brought the national total to 1,032,913. The covid-19 pandemic is rapidly spreading across the country with no signs of slowing down, as major cities lift restrictions on social alienation and begin to reopen restaurants, stores, and other nonessential businesses.
