" It's always the fight for justice, " said the 17-year-old about the movement that followed the death of George Floyd, a black American killed by police in the United States. " We cannot look away from what our society has ignored for so long, whether it is equality, justice or sustainable development, " she continued.
She sees signs that we are witnessing a " revival ", when " people are beginning to find their voice, to somehow understand that they can indeed have an impact ".
The girl, who has become a spokesperson and a symbol of the youth movement in the fight against global warming, nevertheless believes that " the ecological and climate crisis cannot be resolved with the current political and economic systems ", " It is not an opinion, it is a fact ".
In his view, the only positive thing that could emerge from the new coronavirus crisis is the way in which global crises are managed: " it shows that during a crisis, you act, and you act with the necessary force ," he said. she declared.
She developed the same idea in an interview on Swedish public radio on Saturday, saying that the pandemic had opened " a new dimension ". " We suddenly act at the necessary level ," she said.
In this intervention, during which she confesses to having received numerous threats, she affirmed that she had to cancel a trip to China, planned for the beginning of June, because of the restrictions linked to the fight against the pandemic. " Going to China is something I have wanted to do for a long time (...) if the Chinese authorities dare to let me enter the country, " she said.
She also spoke of aborted displacement in Japan and South Korea.
Since mid-March, Greta Thunberg, instigator of “ school school strikes for the climate ”, calls to carry the movement on line, putting forward the recommendations of the health authorities in order to limit the gatherings.
