Activist Kinda al-Khatib, known for her harsh criticism of Hezbollah, was arrested Thursday with her brother on charges of spying for Israel. This is reported in the Lebanese Al-Akhbar. Even before she was arrested, she tweeted on Twitter against President Michelle Aoun.
She and her brothers were arrested at their home in the town of Milba - the capital of the Akar district in northern Lebanon, near the border with Syria. The Lebanese people did not understand her arrest and claimed that the reason for the unusual accusation was because of her criticism of the Hezbollah puppet administration and not because she actually spied on Israel.
A Lebanese security official told the Lebanese al-Akhbar that a 24-year-old English literature student had intercepted a conversation with a man from Israel who gave him information. However, it is not specified what kind of information she gave the Israeli source.
