The firefighters at the Shatha fire station of the General Authority for Forest Management and Development put out several fires that broke out in the Al-Ghab area of Hama countryside, causing damage to wheat fields.
Manhal Suleiman, head of the Shutha Firefighting Center, stated in a statement to a SANA reporter that yesterday night and today, fire broke out in wheat lands and fields in a number of areas, including Jurin, Naour Jourin, Al-Azizia, Al-Haidarah, Annaba and Al-Bisah, indicating that the strong winds that struck the area and exceeded the speed of 80 km per hour caused the fire. The difficulty of extinguishing it, indicating that the elements of extinguishing the center in cooperation with the people took control of the fires by focusing on surrounding the fire in the wheat fields in order to preserve the crops of farmers and to prevent its extension to the fields and neighboring lands.
Eng. Fayez Mohammed, Director of Natural Resources at the authority, stated with a similar statement that the wheat fields that had been devoured by the fire were estimated at tens of acres, and destroyed quantities of straw and straw in some warehouses due to the extension of the fire to it.
