Today, the Ministry of Electricity has installed the Eastern Park Transfer Station in Damascus, and it consists of three sections: the first is 230 kV, the second is 66 kV, and the third is 20 kV, with a digital drive system via the computer.
Kharbutli indicated that the goal of establishing the station is to reduce electrical loads for a number of areas and neighborhoods in the city of Damascus (Rukn al-Din and its east, Abbasiyeh Square, Ibn al-Nafis, Mazraa, al-Qusour, al-Faiha and al-Adawi), noting that the station comes within the projects implemented by the ministry with national cadres and expertise aimed at improving the electrical reality.
In turn, the governor of Damascus, engineer Adel Al-Olabi, indicated in a similar statement to the importance of this station, which contributes to the stability of the electrical network in Damascus, as it reduces the forced outages of the electrical current as a result of increased consumption, explaining that the modern system of the station contributes to discovering errors and malfunctions, and thus saves the effort made by the workers.
Engineer Labib Maarouf from the General Organization for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, who supervises the project, in turn indicated that the implementation of the project took about 17 months from the Corporation’s cadres, pointing out that this station reduces the loads on the stations (66, Al-Thawra, Al-Qusour, and Ibn Al-Nafees).
The station was put into service by the aides of the Minister of Electricity, the secretary of the Damascus branch of the Baath Arab Socialist Party and a number of directors at the ministry.
