A statistical analysis of the deaths from the Corona virus in England found that white men's risk of dying from Cubid-19 is twice that of the UK general population.
The report, released on Friday by the Central Bureau of Statistics, examined the distribution of deaths in England and Wales by religion. One significant finding is that Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs were more at risk than Christians or religious.
"Much of the difference in mortality" among religious groups, the report notes, is due to "the different living circumstances of these groups, for example, living in areas with higher levels of socio-economic deprivation and differences in ethnic composition."
The report shows that "Jewish men are twice as likely as Christian men, and Jewish women are also at higher risk," said Nick Strape, head of the department at the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The mortality rate among Jewish men was 187.9 deaths per 100,000, compared with 92.6 deaths per 100,000 in the general population, which is predominantly Christian. As for Jewish women, the mortality rate was 94.3 per 100,000, compared with 54.6 in the general population.
The report looked at the deaths from the virus between March 2 and May 15. During this period, 453 people died who identified themselves as Jews in the census.
