Trump did not disclose details of the new measures, but described the decision as making many people happy and Americans will be satisfied. He mentioned that certain visa holders who are now in the United States will not be affected.
He said that some large companies have always required certain employees to work in the United States, so they have the opportunity to be exempted.
Trump said that the new coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) epidemic has caused some companies to shut down and the domestic unemployment rate has risen. The United States is responding to this problem.
In addition to the H-1B visa, the L-1 visa for internal company personnel and the H-2B visa for short-term or seasonal workers will also be affected.
The U.S. government will issue H-1B visas to approximately 85,000 people each year; starting from the fiscal year 2021, 65,000 eligible undergraduate or higher applicants will be drawn in the first round by lottery. In the second round, 20,000 more candidates from the first round and higher were selected.
In the case of numerous applicants, the chance of successful application is already very low. Some Chinese netizens believe that even if the US government practices change, it will have little effect on them.
