This is the story of low-key local tax increases, except for the hundreds of thousands of taxpayers who suffer them. Each year, municipalities and local tax administrations agree without saying a targeted increase in housing and property taxes. To do this, they revalue the tax value of housing, called "rental value" by experts, which dates from 1970. This phenomenon surfaced when the National Union of Real Estate Owners (UNPI) criticized a few months ago. , an unprecedented upgrading campaign in Isère, forcing the government to lift the veil on a phenomenon that concerns 140,000 owners per year. This is not much, reported in more than 30 million homes, but the increase does not go unnoticed for the taxpayers concerned.
Concretely, the local tax administrations pass each year through a sieve a fraction of the dwellings in their territory to find out whether their tax value is undervalued or not.
