Two people were killed and seven wounded in a shootout in Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina.
The city's police chief, Mecklenburg-Johnny Jennings, was satisfied, and the Associated Press quoted him as talking about evidence of gunfire on a number of people on the Bates Ford Road north of the city, killing two people and wounding seven others in their cars without clarifying whether the police carried out the arrests.
One person was killed and 11 others were injured in a shooting incident on the outskirts of Minneapolis, Minnesota, yesterday.
