Mexico City-SANA
A strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale hit southern Mexico today.
Reuters quoted the US Geological Survey as saying that the epicenter of the earthquake is located in the coastal state of Oaxaca in the Pacific.
For its part, the American Institute of Geophysics issued a tsunami warning against the southern coasts of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras following the earthquake.
The earthquake was felt by residents of several neighborhoods in the capital, Mexico, without immediate news of casualties or damage.
It is noteworthy that a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck central Mexico in 2017 and killed 355 people in the capital and the surrounding states.
