" If we think about the long term, nuclear keeps all its relevance, " said the minister on BFMTV and RMC , asked about the disconnection of the Fessenheim plant.
Presenting himself as a " nuclear defender ", he cited two advantages for this energy: " It allows us to be one of the countries that emits less CO2 for its electricity production and this guarantees our independence ", he stressed.
" By dint of criticizing the nuclear industry, you lose skills, " said Le Maire. " I don't mind being told that we must reindustrialize the country (...), but we must not weaken our strategic assets, including nuclear, " he warned. The second reactor at Fessenheim, the oldest nuclear power plant in France, was disconnected from the national power grid Monday evening at 11 p.m.
