France rebels in the viewfinder of justice. A preliminary investigation was opened on May 14 for “breach of trust” against several party leaders, announced the Paris prosecution on Tuesday, confirming information from the Duck in chains.

Last December, the criminal court had followed the requisitions of the prosecution by ordering Jean-Luc Mélenchon to three months suspended prison sentence and 8,000 euros fine for intimidation and rebellion in October 2018. The four other defendants (MP Bastien Lachaud, MEP Manuel Bompard, State Councilor Bernard Pinerolo and press attaché Muriel Rozenfeld) were sentenced to fines ranging from 2,000 to 8,000 euros. All were also to pay several thousand euros in damages to the civil parties - police, gendarmes and magistrates. Or 26,500 euros.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon reacted in a tweet denouncing an "organized flight", a "revenge" of the Attorney General of Paris and "Macron's justice".
