While Iran's economic pressure is mounting and when a mysterious explosion occurred in eastern Tehran last week, the Islamic Republic is also facing separatist factors in its peripheral areas. The country's Islamic Revolutionary Council member, Zahdan Padahasin Maliki, confirmed to the Maher News Agency on Tuesday that an attack against an Iranian convoy was taking place in Sistan and southeastern Balochistan province.  

According to a report in the Qatari newspaper Al-Arabi al-Jadeed, an organization called the "Army of Justice" operating in the region between Iran and Pakistan, announced that it had eliminated a commander in the Basij militia subject to the Revolutionary Guards. The organization noted that the blast hit three military vehicles. 

Councilor Maliki denied that a commander or any member of the Revolutionary Guards was eliminated at the event. However, in his remarks to Iranian media, Maliki said that an officer of a rank equivalent to that of a colonel named Muhammad Malashahi - was only lightly injured. He added that the attack was carried out by launching an explosive device as soon as the Revolutionary Guards convoy passed.

In recent years, the "army of justice" has carried out a series of attacks against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in that region. In February 2019, the organization was able to detonate a pickup truck, resulting in 13 injured and 27 dead. This is a Sunni Islamist militia in the Balochistan region, which is defined as a terrorist organization in Iran. The group is working against Iran, among other things, to restore the bloc rights to the region.
