(CNN Spanish) - Those who attacked the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, Omar García Harfuch, brought with them a grenade launcher, seven fragmentation grenades, 34 long weapons, five Barrett rifles, 51 bomotov bombs and 2,805 cartridges, according to a list of weapons seized from the attackers by the capital authorities.

"The amount of weapons and the number of people involved indicates that they were prepared for everything, although something went wrong in their attempt to kill García Harfuch," said security expert Gerardo Rodríguez, adding that the Mexican authorities should investigate their provenance to determine where and when they were acquired, the origin of the purchase and where they entered the country.

"They could have passed through the border with the United States, that would be a possibility. There are many porous points where components of this type of arms are trafficked and then their buyers assemble them in Mexico, ”he explained.

The capital authorities have assured that the investigations on this fact continue, although they have not specified what are the lines of investigation that they have open.

Through the videos of the security cameras, it was learned that a white van blocked the way for the caravan in which Omar García Harfuch was traveling when he was driving through the streets of the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood, in Mexico City, the Friday morning, June 26.

"By analyzing the video recordings of the C5 in Mexico City, it was possible to capture the moment in which the attack was carried out by several armed people who were on board a white vehicle," said a statement from the Capital Prosecutor's Office, in which it is added that shortly after the attack some people fled in another vehicle.

According to the prosecutor's office in the capital, a first hearing was held on Sunday to press charges against 12 of the 19 people arrested on suspicion of being linked to the attack in which three people died (two bodyguards and a civilian outside the event), while five more were injured.

The hearing was requested by the Prosecutor's Office itself to charge the detainees for the crimes of homicide, attempted murder and carrying firearms for the exclusive use of the Army. The agency said that these people will maintain their innocent condition as long as there is no sentence.

CNN has tried unsuccessfully to communicate with the detainees' defense to obtain more information on the process that follows them.
