Shortly before announcing the strictest coronavirus quarantine at AMBA, one of Alberto Fernández's, and Axel Kicillof's and Horacio Rodríguez Larreta's biggest concerns, was how willing people were to comply with the new / old isolation. And a recent poll to which Clarín agreed put numbers to that alert: 32% assured that "it is not in conditions" to return to the original running of the bulls.

The study is by Reale Dalla Torre Consultores (RDT) , a pioneering firm in measurements on social networks. He surveyed 1,400 cases in the city and the suburbs between June 27 and 29. This Wednesday, Clarín carried out part of the work, where he warned that Buenos Aires and Buenos Aires residents were between "worried" (59.5%) and "overwhelmed" (15%) by their current economic situation, after more than 100 days of isolation.

This state of mind could explain -at least in part- other responses related to quarantine . Compliance would no longer have to do only with a voluntary desire or with community solidarity but directly with a need for survival.

"The return to harsher isolation at AMBA reaps a low level of adherence today," says Martha Reale, director of RDT. And it completes with numbers: "35.4% claim to be totally in favor, against 48.6% who endorse it but partially. They consider that they should have considered more the economic situation of the people. And 15% rejects outright directly the rigid quarantine. "

Curious - and warrant an analysis - people's responses when asked about compliance with the restrictions. First, RDT asked about the others. "According to what you have seen or heard, how do you think people are carrying out the quarantine?" . Only 3.8% believe that the others comply "totally". 61.3% answered that they "partially comply" and 34.4% "did not comply".

But later, when the question was direct to the person - "How have you been serving quarantine?" - 78.3% said they do it "totally", against 19.3% who confessed to complying "in part" and 2.4% who admitted that they "do not comply".

Then another step was taken: "According to your current situation, do you consider that you are in a position to comply with a stricter quarantine?" . Although the majority said yes (60.2%), almost a third of the respondents (32%) said "no". Completed 7.8% of "don't know".

Reality is probably an average between what people say they do (a lot), what they actually do (not so much), and why they don't stick to the norm (need or want) anyway.

Runners, boys and shops

In another part of the study, three points are investigated that generated controversy each time they relaxed or closed. The possibility of going for a run , the boys' recreational walk (both in CABA) and the closing of shops .

Regarding the Buenos Aires runners , although it was found that their spread did not have a direct relationship with the rise in infections, the stigma remains : they had only 13.8% support against 58.6% of "they should not be allowed to run" and 24.5% of "they should be allowed but fewer days". The strongest rejection, predictably, comes from GBA respondents, barred from starting to physical activity outdoors.

As for the boys' rides, authorized only on weekends, the results were slightly more distributed : 32.5% agreed with continuing as before, 28% asked to ban them and, in the middle, 37 , 6% indicated that "they should be allowed to leave but fewer days".

More forceful was the support to merchants. The consultant stated: "Due to the new restrictions due to the pandemic, thousands of businesses have to close again. Do you agree or disagree with that?" . 65% expressed "disagreement" and asked for "alternatives so as not to harm those who work".
