The previous peak of contamination in 24 hours dates back to June 28, with 305 cases.
Algeria - like its two Maghreb neighbors, Tunisia and Morocco - is on a list of 15 countries for which the European Union reopens its borders as of Wednesday. This list of countries, based " in particular " on epidemiological criteria, was adopted Tuesday after a vote by qualified majority of EU countries after difficult negotiations, as the summer tourist season begins.
On Monday, the Algerian government also decided to extend, until July 13, the " current arrangement for the improvement of home confinement " (note: curfew) in place in 29 of the 48 wilayas (prefectures) in the country.
