(CNN) –– Paris Jackson's interpretation of Jesus as a lesbian woman has caused thousands of people to sign a protest petition.
The daughter of the late king of pop Michael Jackson, 22, plays this character in the movie Habit .
According to Deadline, the independent film stars Bella Thorne and “it's about a party girl, from the street, with a fetish for Jesus, who is involved in a violent drug business and finds a possible way out, posing as a nun. "
As of Thursday, Change.org's petition against the film was fast approaching nearly 300,000 signatures.
"It is predicted that a new blasphemous Hollywood movie representing Jesus as a lesbian woman will be released soon," a statement in the petition reads. “The movie Habit stars Paris Jackson, who plays the role of lesbian Jesus. The distributors have not yet picked it up, so please spread awareness and wake people up with the Christophobic garbage that is spreading today, but which is in some way accepted and praised by society, ”the text adds.
CNN has reached out to Jackson's representatives for comment.
This is not Jackson's first performance.
She had a small role in 2017 as Rachel Wells in the Fox television series "Star", and also appeared in the "Scream" series and in the movie Gringo .
Singer Sia tweeted Wednesday a message of support for Jackson.
Dear @ParisJackson I love you, keep going. I believe you are a good person.

It's me that has my opinions as a 44 year old woman. Let her be a child please- attack me. I am more than equipped to deal with us disagreeing on a subject. Let's not ruin her music release and finding her own voice.
