Federal judge Marcelo Martínez De Giorgi, made progress on the recovery of the assets located abroad and that were part of the bribery laundering circuit headed by Daniel Muñoz, former private secretary of Néstor Kirchner.

Last week it had required the freezing of accounts for more than US $ 5 million of accounts linked to Muñoz's figureheads in Switzerland. Now, through a warrant, he requested the seizure of property in the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands . This case is related to what is known as the Cuadernos de las Coimas: Justice suspects that part of the money raised from illegal funds was being used for operations abroad. If it did not, the land could have been left to the British crown. Now we will have to see how long it takes the Chancellery to send the warrant.

A property of 30 million dollars located on the beach of the paradisiacal islands of Turks and Caicos was acquired by the former private secretary of the Kirchners, joins a network of acquisition of goods abroad for which the environment of Daniel Muñoz, as Clarín revealed  two weeks ago.

The land that the widow of Muñoz, Carolina Pochetti, bought in 2016 seeks Argentine justice, be seized for future seizures. Last year, the late judge Claudio Bonadio had sent warrants at the request of the Financial Information Unit (FIU), to the Justice of Turks and Caicos in order to seize the land. Now Judge Martínez De Giorgi, as information was provided about only one and with the beginning of the process of bilateral judicial cooperation, he insisted on another property.

According to the documents to which Clarín agreed , it seeks to recover the money corresponding to said properties valued at US $ 30 million. Therefore, at the request of the prosecutor Carlos Stornelli, the seizure via exhortation of the properties acquired on the islands of Turks and Caicos, dependent on Great Britain, was insisted on.

The Turks and Caicos courthouse had already seized land, but it is yet to seize another four of the prize with an estimated total value of $ 30 million . For that reason, the judge reiterated an appeal to the island's justice for the precautionary measure to cover all properties, specifying the property titles that are in the name of cardboard signatures of Muñoz's widow, Carolina Pochetti.

Meanwhile, the defense of Canadian lawyer Peter Karam, the owner of the study that created the shell companies and who was on remand on the island and released on bail, resists the request to be extradited for investigation in Argentina. Karam is the head of the Karam and Missick law firm of those paradisiacal Caribbean islands.

The four plots are located next to the luxurious Amanyara hotel on the island's beaches and the posthumous idea of Muñoz - who died of cancer in 2016 - was to build a luxury resort in that archipelago of 40 islands with corals, located at the southeast of the Bahamas. The project of the former secretary of Néstor and Cristina was to add a resort together with other luxurious tourist centers, shops and restaurants. The grounds have access to white sand beaches and dive sites that include a 14-mile coral reef off the north coast and a spectacular 2-meter underwater wall off Grand Turk Island.

The parcels are in the name of the ghost companies Gold Blanck ltd and Old Wolf that have the Mexican Isaac Esperanza, a friend of the nephew of Muñoz's widow, Carlos Gellert, who participated in the laundering operation. The complex was to be built by the American Sean Lawrence Sullivan, but according to Muñoz's widow "he kept the silver or the silver was lost" and the hotel was never built. Now if the investment in Turks and Caicos was 30 million dollars.

Last year, Interpol detained Karam and another attorney who helped get black silver out of the United States and invested in that project.

There was a second rogatory that was sent to the Bahamas, which was an intermediate destination to direct funds to Turks and Caicos. It was precisely in the Caribbean that a network of off shore firms was built in order to move funds of illegal origin and turn them over to the acquisition of properties.  In this case, the seizure of property was requested.

This is one of the residual causes of the notebooks of the bribes - the main ones are elevated to oral trial, where the court advances in the recovery of assets like these acquired through alleged illegal maneuvers.

After the death of Néstor Kirchner in October 2010, the Justice held that Muñoz invested 70 million dollars in 12 real estate properties in Miami and New York and another 100 in Argentine companies as the main producer of nebulizers. From there came the 30 for Caribbean investment. In his confession, the former Kirchner accountant, Víctor Manzanares, revealed how Kirchner's environment, as soon as the news of his death was known, fought for “the keys to the treasure,” alluding to the houses where cash or other securities were hidden. and he mentioned Muñoz among them.

The purchases included an apartment in the legendary Plaza hotel for $ 14 million, which is Cristina's favorite place in the Big Apple.
