One day after MK Ayman Ode attended a Fatah and Hamas virtual conference in Ramallah, MK Bezalel Smutrich on his right (Thursday) addressed Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin to request the removal of the chairman of the joint list.

According to MK Smutrich, Odeh should be ousted in accordance with Article 7A of the Basic Law: Knesset, according to which no person shall serve as a Knesset member if he acted to deny the existence of the State of Israel or supported an armed struggle by a terrorist organization against the State of Israel.

In his letter, Smutrich addressed the virtual conference in which MK Odeh took part in the Fatah Central Committee and in charge of the movement on the fight against the Israeli sovereignty program, Jibril Rajoub, and the deputy head of Hamas's Saleh Al-Aruri political bureau.

"The conference dealt with the Palestinian Authority's plan to oppose Israel's sovereignty measures, and included supporting an armed struggle against the State of Israel in cooperation with the representative of the Joint List," wrote MK Smutrich.

In the letter, he noted: "MK Odeh participated in this conference, in which explicit statements were made in support of the operation of terror against the State of Israel, such as 'our fight is common, no other enemy than Israel', and is attended by terrorist supporters from the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Israel can move on to the agenda. "

According to Smutrich, "according to the law, MK Odeh is undeserving and cannot serve as a Knesset member and therefore his ouster is required."

More on:

• Rejob and Hamas senior in statement: "The cooperation between us has proven itself"; Ayman Odeh "participated"

• Ayman Odeh: a court-sponsored publication

• Contact the Judiciary and the Ethics Committee to examine Odeh's participation in the Ramallah conference

The opening of the process requires the signing of 70 Knesset members who support the impeachment, of which at least ten are opposition parties. In a statement from MK Smutrich, it was noted that in her right and in Israel, our home has already expressed support for the procedure.

"Another Depression for More"

As reported yesterday, the chairman of the joint list attended a joint Hamas and Fatah press conference in which representatives of the organizations expressed their strong opposition to the sovereignty. In response, Likud MKs contacted Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit and the Knesset Ethics Committee to investigate the matter.

"We will implement all relevant mechanisms to achieve national unity," Rajob said at the conference. "We had a pleasant conversation with Hamas and we came to the stage that we want all factions to work together for our national goals."

He added: "We will continue to fight as part of our struggle to establish a sovereign state. I salute the Hamas political bureau led by Ismail Haniyeh and his deputy Salah al-Aruri."

Al-Aruri said at the conference: "If they succeed in implementing the annexation plan in the West Bank, it will open their appetite for annexing other areas. After annexation, Israel will have to deal with the Palestinian issue in the West Bank, as they have precedents of displacement and deportation. Israel considers the West Bank the promised land. - And they are ready to take dangerous steps in the West Bank.

"We cannot accept this reality unequally. The annexation signifies the abolition of the two-state solution, because such a step would not allow a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. We will prepare all kinds of fight against the annexation venture. We tell Israel that it will not succeed and the annexation will not pass."

"History shows that our joint activity in the first and second intifada led to the thwarting of Israeli plans as we worked together. We all need to focus on the joint activity aimed at combating the annexation venture and protecting our people."

MK Odeh said at the conference that he had arrived "to support Palestinian internal reconciliation measures. Reconciliation between the factions is a necessary step in combating annexation, ending the occupation and achieving a just peace. Continued schism serves only those who wish to continue the occupation and the establishment of apartheid. Anyone who supports the two-state solution should also support reconciliation. "

Odeh added: "We will continue with the activities we have done to date. Demonstrations like the one at Rabin Square and Lobby on the international level."

The Likud movement attacked MK Odeh for his participation in the event: "Another slump for Ayman Odeh who attended a conference today with Hamas people calling for the murder of Israelis. This is the man with whom Yair Lapid and Boogie Ya'alon wanted to form a government. There is no limit to shame. "
