The new line of Barcelona shirts that Lionel Messi will wear, at least until 2021, were withdrawn from the market today by order of the manufacturer because they fade with perspiration and also when washing, according to the Catalan press revealed on Friday.

Barcelona was planning to put the new official clothing for sale on the team next week, just in the Catalan classic against Espanyol, but the Nike company ordered the stores to stop the clothing from going out and return it to their suppliers , Sport newspaper indicated.

The reason is a manufacturing failure that causes the shirts to fade with sweat or when washing, something that has never happened before with the North American company, which preferred to make this drastic decision before the poor quality product reaches the hands of the consumers.

The measure can mean significant losses for both Barcelona's sales venues in the summer period, which is always very good, adding to this the possibility that Messi's team will advance to the quarterfinals in the Champions League in August. .

For Nike it is a hard blow, especially considering that the garments are subjected to various quality controls before going on the market.

The now failed new shirt recovered the traditional stripes although it stood out because they were surrounded by a yellow border, while the substitute jacket for next season will be black and the third will be pink.
