(CNN Spanish) - As every Friday, Dr. Elmer Huerta answers the concerns about the coronavirus that he receives from our audience through our social network accounts.

In today's episode, Dr. Huerta answers questions about rapid tests, coronavirus symptoms, whether the coronavirus can "mount" in the smoke of smokers or vapers, and about the disease mutation.

You can listen to this episode on Spotify or your favorite podcast platform or read the transcript below.

Hello, I am Dr. Elmer Huerta and this is your daily dose of information about the new coronavirus, information that we hope will be useful to take care of your health and that of your family. Today we will answer some of the questions that have made us reach our Twitter account @DrHuerta.

@drhuerta my husband is taken out every 15 days at work, he tests quickly and comes out negative I have lupus so I could not have covid that allows me to visit my nephews ????

- Pαмє ϟ (@pamela_salazar) July 1, 2020

Good question, Pame.

On the understanding that you have respected the confinement and no one else in your home could have been exposed; So, it seems that the problem is not that you have the possibility of infecting your nephews, but that they can infect you.

Ask the parents of the children well, if they have been keeping a strict quarantine. If so, I think you could visit them. All with masks.

It was supposed to take decades to mutate a virus (without human intervention). And how did you do it in a few months?

- La Chimbomba (@LChimbomba) July 1, 2020

Due to their high replication, in which a single virus produces millions and millions of copies, viruses do not need decades to mutate, they do it every time.

That is why viruses that circulate in a country acquire a kind of distinctive “fingerprint”, and there is talk of a Chinese, European or North American virus.

@drhuerta regarding your cnn podcasts on the coronavirus mutation, which means it hasn't been peer reviewed? I have seen that term used several times and I also think they relate it to publications in medical journals. Thank you and congratulate you on your work.

- Desiree Elis (@ desielis22) July 1, 2020

Excellent question, Desireé.

When the results of an investigation are to be published, the journal that receives the manuscript sends it to several scientists of the same specialty (that is why they are said to be peers or similar to the original researchers).

The experts analyze each part of the manuscript and make their observations, criticisms and comments, which must be approved by the scientists who sent the manuscript initially.

Only after that peer review is the study published.

Doctor, at this moment I have lost the sense of taste and smell, my question is, can it be Covid?

- Diego Lizano (@ DiegoAl12066995) July 1, 2020

It could be yes, Diego, although those same symptoms can be caused by other diseases too.

It is accepted that if there are many cases of covid-19 in the region in which you live, these symptoms could be attributed to the infection. In any case, it would be advisable to consult a doctor.

@drhuerta I am a follower of your podcasts, in Bolivia the debate began on the use of Chlorine Dioxide for the treatment of Covid-19, what would be your opinion about this compound thank you very much

- Alenka Zami (@Alezambrana) July 1, 2020

There is no scientific study to prove that chlorine dioxide works against covid-19.

That substance, also known by the suspicious name of miraculous mineral solution, has caused the poisoning of several children in the United States because its creator said - falsely and dangerously, of course - that it could cure autism.

What about those recoveries who already have antibodies to Coronavirus but are being asked for a rapid antibody test to be able to work or open their stores? @drhuerta

- Yackson Tara Li 🏳️‍🌈 (@JhunTL) July 1, 2020

It's not okay to be asked for a negative rapid test, Yackson.

It is the other way around, they are being asked that the rapid or serological test be positive, because that indicates that they have already passed the disease.

Unfortunately, the World Health Organization has said that, since it is not yet known whether immunity is permanent, such immunity certificates or passports should not be required or required to return to work.

@drhuerta dr the fact that the virus has mutated would make it difficult to find the vaccine?

- Nicolás Weber (@Capiweber) July 1, 2020

Excellent question, Nicolas.

Until now, after thousands of analyzes of the SARS CoV-2 genome, the virus has not been detected to have mutated in the regions that allow for a universal vaccine.

The mutations that have been detected, and those that we report in the podcast, are minor mutations.

Good afternoon Dnr. Huerta, sorry for the inconvenience, my question is I am hypertensive since I was 16 years old, I am 53 years old, I live with my 77-year-old mother, they told me today that I have to go to work twice (Thursday and Monday) I am afraid, what precautions do I have to drink. Thank you

- Carina Casas Urcia (@UrciaCasas) July 1, 2020

Hello Carina, the concerns that you must take are the same that we all must take.

First, wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth whenever people are around. Second, keep a distance of at least two meters from other people.

Third, wash your hands frequently with soap and water and if you do not have that facility, always carry alcohol gel with you.

@drhuerta Dr. good morning. Inquiry: For personnel who serve the public in open places, is it advisable to wear protective suits like rompers? I have read that it is only advisable for health personnel, who are properly trained to remove the suit correctly.

- Clever (@ clelop13) July 1, 2020

Hello Clever.

There are no scientific studies that these rompers provide extra protection to a person other than a health professional working with patients with covid-19.

I think that the use of the mask and a distance of two meters with your clients is more important.

@drhuerta good night, see people with low hemoglobin, with early anemia, are they vulnerable to covid19?

- m @ r (@ B17Mar) July 1, 2020

Good question, Mar.

Unless you have sickle cell anemia or thalassemia type anemia, for which you should consult your doctor, you are not in the risk group.

In other words, please consult your doctor to study anemia.

@drhuerta there is some scientific evidence that shows that ozone removes covi19 when cleaning a room because many hotels use it.

- Patricio Costales (@ PatricioCostal2) June 30, 2020

Ozone can be used to disinfect, but never when there are people in the room.

But it seems very important to me that you ask yourself, why do you want to disinfect your room? Have you had any sick there?

If not, you don't have to. In hotels it could serve as a preventive measure.

@drhuerta good morning Dr. I would like to know if people who have hypertension and morbid obesity are risk factors. Since the doctor of the company where I work says that it is not. Thank you in advance, excellent your post!

- Chano 22 (@Luchodeitu) June 30, 2020

What your doctor told you is not true, Chano.

According to the latest publication from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, both obesity with a body mass index greater than 30 and high blood pressure are conditions that can complicate covid-19.

@drhuerta My daughter was positive to covid (with mild symptoms, headache, a little fever), diagnosed with a rapid test for more than 20 days, a 3rd test was performed after 30 days and finally it came out negative but now she lost the smell and taste, what should I do😓

- Liz (@ Liz88806255) June 30, 2020

There's something wrong with your daughter, Liz.

It is possible that the third test, the one that came out negative, gave a false result.

The fact that more than three weeks after the disease started, hardly any loss of smell and taste is common, but it could be covid-19.

I think they should see a doctor immediately.

Doctor, good afternoon, can the asymptomatic take any medications?

- Antonio Valerio Mendoza (@ Antonio93809851) June 29, 2020

Hello Antonio. As we have said in previous episodes, the asymptomatic are a very mysterious group so far.

But there is no evidence that any kind of medication is going to have any benefit from it.

Good morning @drhuerta I have a question .. what about smokers and the Covid, x example yesterday someone passed by smoking at a certain distance and I could feel the smoke about 8 or 10 m .. in that smoke can the virus travel? Same with vapers .. it would be nice to meet.

- TodosSonCorruptos (@ AlvaroM19069539) July 2, 2020

Excellent question, Álvaro.

There is no scientific evidence that the virus can "ride" in cigarette smoke or vapor from a vaper and travel remotely. Thanks for your question.
