The first stage of the rocket. If Jean Castex was appointed this Friday as Prime Minister, the great upheaval is far from over. The new tenant of Matignon, who succeeds Édouard Philippe, must now agree with Emmanuel Macron on the composition of the future government. In a brief statement, sent Friday morning, the Élysée simply announced "new talents" and "new methods of government ", without lifting the veil on the balances that would be sought. The composition of the new team should however be known by Wednesday 8 July at the latest, the date scheduled for the next Council of Ministers.

Discussions between the head of state and his new prime minister will therefore intensify in the coming hours. Especially since the selected profiles will then have to be scrutinized by the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP). The body, created by François Hollande in 2014, monitors in particular the potential conflicts of interest of the ministers. In just a few years, his investigations have already cost several members of the government their posts.
For his part, former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe will take advantage of the weekend to return to his city of Le Havre. Widely re-elected in the port city which he already directed between 2010 and 2017, he must be reinstalled in the chair of the first councilor this Sunday, during a meeting of the City Council.
