A preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that the mother and her two daughters, residents of Hura, entered the lake and began to drift in the water. They cried out for help, and Michael jumped into the water and began to pull them to shore. "He took one girl out, went back to take the other one out - and couldn't," he said. "He felt he was losing power and shouted 'I have no powers.' Then another man jumped into the water to beat the other girl. The other man managed to catch the other girl, but Michael disappeared into the water."

His wife, who was staying with him at the beach, tried to help him get the girls out, but quickly got out of the water after feeling her drift in the current. She immediately summoned the rescue forces to the scene.

Large police and fire and rescue forces were called to the scene and began searching for him using boats and divers. After a long time, police divers found the man's body unconscious. They rescued her to the beach, but the MDA team, who was there, was left to determine his death.

Ben Zikri, an independent gardening business owner, moved to Ashdod from Ashkelon a few months ago after remarrying with the city's resident. He and his family are very well known in Ashkelon, and many in the city have been shocked by the harsh news.

Senior paramedic in MDA Tsafrir Yosef said: "During the medical treatment of the four drownings extracted from the water in light condition, civilians told us that the man who rescued them was absent and did not leave the water. Large police and fire brigades arrived and with the help of boats and special equipment they scanned the lake. Unfortunately, he was found unconscious in the water and after being rescued, we were left with nothing to determine his death

. Noting that it was murky water and the flow of the lake - which made it difficult to search the water. "
