Amid tensions with the opposition, the ruling party in the Senate has already decided that it will continue the remote sessions regardless of what Together for Change decides . “We have the number to meet and approve everything that a simple majority needs. So we will move forward. If it is with an agreement, the better, ”they warned on the bench of the Front of All.

In May, the ruling party and the opposition had signed an agreement for remote sessions. It was established that only initiatives related to the coronavirus emergency could be addressed. But later Cristina Kirchner, president of the Senate, decided to expand the agenda of topics to be discussed and for that reason she decided to call special sessions.

In the Together for Change caucus , chaired by Luis Naidenoff , they agree to "open the agenda to other issues, but that do not need public hearings, such as abortion or Rafecas' document for the procurement." And they demand that they can meet with more senators in the precinct, as it happens in Deputies.

But the decision of the ruling party is to continue with the modality of remote sessions as until now. “We are not going to return to face-to-face sessions for now . It is enough to see what happened in the House of Representatives to understand how dangerous it can be, ”they said, referring to the fact that five legislators were infected in the lower house.

In the Senate there were infections among the Security personnel. So the decision is not to meet in the next two weeks but only to work in the commissions.

They will seek to give clearance to the plasma donation project and the teleworking project. The specifications of some ambassadors proposed by the Executive Power, such as those of Ricardo Alfonsín (will go to Spain), Alicia Castro (Russia) and Daniel Capitanich (the brother of the governor of Chaco will go as representative to Nicaragua) will also be discussed.

Cristina Kirchner with senators José Mayans and Luis Naidenoff.

In the ruling party bench, chaired by José Mayans from Formosa, they reported that there are no plans to deal with documents from the Judiciary in these weeks. In the front of all the other hand, already they support so low they do not have the numbers to approve the statement of Daniel Rafecas . For his appointment a special majority of two thirds (48 votes) is needed and today the ruling party would add at most 42 or 43 votes. And the opposition is flattened.
