The head of government, who will reveal the composition of his ministerial team on Monday, has expressed his support for the police.

The day before, he had made his first visit as Prime Minister to a company in Essonne manufacturing electronic components. Sunday evening, Jean Castex went to a police station in La Courneuve, in Seine-Saint-Denis.

A surprise step whose objective was to express its support for the police. The new head of government was welcomed on site by the Paris prefect of police, Didier Lallement.

Thursday, the latter had announced Thursday the next dissolution of the Company of Security and Intervention (CSI) of Seine-Saint-Denis, of which four agents have just been indicted for "facts of a particular gravity". The prefect Lallement also decided to review the doctrine of employment of CSI in the sense of a better coordination with other services for the fight against delinquency.

Jean Castex's impromptu trip came after a dinner with Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysée Palace, while the two men are preparing the composition of the new government which should be announced on Monday afternoon.

This evening I am at the La Courneuve police station, in contact with those who are committed to protecting our fellow citizens. I know they expect action from us. They will come. They also expect recognition and support, they will be flawless. pic.twitter.com/mWrGSutdRs

“Obviously the choice of this trip is symbolic. The purpose of this trip is very simple, I want to chat with you a little, see how you live your work. And beyond that, public safety issues are among my very first concerns, ”explained Jean Castex.

He stressed that he had come "to show the support of the government of the Republic. I know you expect action from us. They will come. You expect recognition and support from us. They will be flawless, ”he added.

"Are there places you can't go to?" There are no no-right zones? Asked the Prime Minister to the police, who replied that they could move everywhere. A police officer explained to him that he had the impression of being "stigmatized". “On the controls, we are filmed automatically. With automatic suspicion of police violence. At the slightest intervention, everyone films us, hoping for a pseudo-blunder, ”added this policeman.
