At 5 a.m. on Monday (6th), a bicycle and two New Territories taxis collided when they crossed Datang Road near the junction of Shibaxiang Road. The 76-year-old surnamed Huang Qi, a cyclist, fell to the ground unconsciously and was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital by ambulance. He was still in a coma at that time; 2 taxi drivers and one of the 1 male passengers were slightly injured and taken to Pok Oi Hospital.
It is understood that one of the passenger-carrying taxis drove along Tai Tong Road in the direction of Yuen Long at the time of the incident. When passing the site, the biker rode out of the road, the taxi could not catch it and knocked it down, then crossed the line and collided head-on with another empty taxi. One of the vehicles leaked oil after the accident. After a preliminary investigation, a 57-year-old taxi driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to others, and is being detained for investigation.
