After reaching 700 goals in his career, now Lionel Messi is on the verge of breaking a record, of surpassing himself, of breaking a historical mark in Spain. The Argentine arrived this past Sunday at 19 assists in the 2019/20 League and is one step away from achieving what was done by his former teammate Xavi.

An incredible run to leave Suarez facing the goal and an exquisite cue before Griezmann's bite were the two assists that Leo gave on date 35 of the League. This is Messi. In addition to reaching his 700 cries, since the post-pandemic football round he gave his teammates seven assists.

Lionel Messi, all his goals From first to last

It is the first time that Leo reaches 19 assists. He had given 18 in the 2010/11 League and in 2014-15. In the last 25 years, he is the only player in the major European leagues to reach that figure in at least three different seasons.

This brand is individual, but it also implies the contribution of Leo to the game of his teammates. In 29 games, he averages 2.8 assists. And he has ahead the remaining four games against Espanyol, Valladolid, Osasuna and Alavés. If he gives one more goal-pass, he will surpass Xavi, who in the 2008/09 season reached 20 assists and six goals.

And to that we must add more contributions from Messi: he has 22 screams in the League (one every 115 minutes), five more than his pursuer Benzema. If goals and assists are counted, Leo has participated in 41 of the 78 goals that Barcelona has in this irregular championship.
