Roberto Ascurra, 50, was passionate about folklore and used to liven up the rocks of the Great Rosary with his music. Father of six children, he was separated, without work and had been in a couple of 10 months with Celina Herrera (59), who now was detained for stabbing him to death. The man thus became the 100th victim of the year in that department of Santa Fe.

"This woman had bad attitudes. It was very manipulative, controlling it much . My dad told me that she had made her witchcraft and that if he was with another woman he was going to kill , " he told Clarin Yamila (18), daughter of the victim.

Everything happened this Sunday at Herrera's house, in Urdinarrain at 8400, west of the city, where the woman was detained for the crime.

"I want justice to be done. The way he left is not fair. She killed him," said Ascurra's daughter, who remarked that in the family they are "baffled between pain and anguish." On the woman, he maintained: " She was very bad and cynical. She wanted to get away from him ."

The Ascurra family fears that Herrera is free. "He has a son and a nephew who are police officers," they argue. In addition, they denounce that a woman appeared last night at the crime scene, "saying that she had been Roberto's partner and took the identity document" from the victim, so now they do not hand over the body.

The suspect was placed at the disposal of the prosecutor Alejandro Ferlazzo, who also investigates four other intentional homicides committed in the last 48 hours.

Although not at the levels of 2013, 2014 and 2015, the years with the most murders recorded in the Gran Rosario, the number has an impact because it occurred in a particular situation: a closed quarantine was registered in the area between March 20 and May 10: 52 days in which the circulation in the streets was severely restricted by the coronavirus pandemic.

This change in movement caused a clear brake on the number of crimes, which in the first months of the year had skyrocketed to disturbing figures. Until March 20, 62 homicides occurred. Numbers similar to those of the most violent years.

During the strictest period of quarantine, 7 homicides were committed. An unprecedented figure in the last years of violence that Rosario experienced.

Since the reopening of the premises was allowed and a controlled opening was enabled -56 days from May 11 and until Sunday- , 31 crimes were registered .

In 2019 the first 100 homicides were reached on July 31. Few days of difference with what happened in 2020, but in a cycle without quarantines, without closings and without the impediment to circulate in the streets.

In 2013, the year with the most homicides in the Gran Rosario, the first 100 crimes had been reached on May 28. What happened in 2014 was even worse: as of April 16, 100 murders had been committed.

From Friday night the police chronicles in the Gran Rosario returned to shake off. That day two young men were victims of a fierce confrontation between drug gangs from Rosario in the streets of the Ludueña neighborhood.

After the deaths of Alexis Nahuel Ortiz (22) and Marcelo Adrián Almaraz (25) from a dispute over the drug business as a background, on Saturday they killed a 31-year-old man in Villa Gobernador Gálvez, south of the Gran Rosario .

Official sources pointed out that two people on a motorcycle ambushed him when he was driving to his grandmother's house and opened fire on him in front of his partner. Juan Carlos Ruiz Díaz was shot in the chest shortly before 18:00. He was transferred to the Anselmo Gamen Hospital, but died.

Minutes after midnight on Saturday, in the southwestern area of Rosario, a 29-year-old man was attacked under similar circumstances in the corner of his home. The first hypothesis regarding the case indicates that the attacker reached the Plata neighborhood on a motorcycle and intercepted Brian Ariel Cejas. He asked about his brother and then shot him.

The victim was transferred to a public health center in the southern area and was then referred to the Clemente Álvarez Emergency Hospital (Heca), where his death was confirmed at around 2 a.m.
