At least 21 people died in China on Tuesday, July 7, when the bus on board of which they had taken abruptly plunged into a lake, according to the authorities. The drama took place around 12:00 (04:00 GMT) in the city of Anshun, in the poor province of Guizhou (southwest), said the provincial office in charge of emergency situations.

High school students passing the baccalaureate were on the bus, said public television CCTV , which quotes eyewitnesses. It has posted videos on the internet showing the vehicle deviating from its route, smashing a safety barrier at the side of the road and plunging into a lake located below a small slope.
" According to the latest assessment established at 5.30 pm, 36 people were taken out of the water. Among them are 21 dead and 15 wounded. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment, "said local authorities.
