The chairman of the Association of Journalists, Yang Jianxing, said that Hong Kong had suffered three impacts from anti-amendment incidents, pneumonia epidemics and the implementation of the National Security Law in the past year. Last year’s anti-fixing movement, front-line police officers used violence and targeted reporters who interviewed the scene, including strong light exposure, pepper spray on the face, etc., and the police commissioner Deng Bingqiang refused when he met with many news organizations including the Association in May. Pledge to stop using violence against journalists.

The final version of the National Security Law is more stringent than expected, and has a chilling effect within a week. Some stores have removed the slogan. The media's self-censorship when handling reports is more serious than in the past.

The Association made six appeals, including revoking the “National Security Law”, stopping the promotion of unified arrangements for issuing press cards, not enacting legislation on 23 articles, conducting independent investigations for police officers obstructing interviews and using violence, and accelerating the preparation of "File Law" and "Freedom of Information Law", etc., and stop suppressing Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This year's annual report of the Journalist Association has four chapters, which discuss the threats of journalists, the relationship between the police and the media, and the relationship between the epidemic situation and press freedom.
