The Head of the Nation's Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero, affirmed this Wednesday that the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) is currently going through the "most critical" moment of the coronavirus pandemic and warns that it is "not yet defined to move" to phase 2 of quarantine after July 17.

"Clearly we are at the most critical moment, as the President said. We are seeing a large number of cases, with outbreaks that appeared in other provinces ... that is a reality. Can we go to phase 2 after 17? Yes, because This is very dynamic. We are taking the appropriate measures with the appropriate times, "he explained, in dialogue with radio La Red .

However, he cautioned, quarantine relaxation " is not predefined at all."

" We cannot make that decision with 10 days to complete this stage. It is very difficult and we have to continue evaluating it. Neither the Province, nor the City, nor the Nation have the elements today to say what will happen after the 17th," sentenced the official.

"There are countries that hastily sang victory and had to go back. What happens with the disease is very dynamic. The scheduled reopening at the AMBA was very close to 100 percent, with many activities allowed. We had to go back because every More beds were being used and the virus was circulating faster. It was not a funny or pleasant political decision, "he said.

Asked about the phrase of the Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Daniel Gollán, who had warned hours before that "if the quarantine in the AMBA is liberalized a lot, Córdoba and Rosario explode", Cafiero defined him as "hasty".

"I listened to the minister's statements and he was referring to the hypothetical case of opening everything if the situation continues as it is now. And that may have an impact not only on the AMBA, but on other conglomerates. We are taking all measures so that it is not saturated the health system. If the system collapses, there we see the highest number of deaths, as was seen in the rest of the world, "he added.
