"The current situation is really not good (...) We are still in the middle of the first wave," said Monday the director of the American Institute of Infectious Diseases, insisting that Europe was in a clearly more enviable position.
Asked about these words by host Greta Van Susteren in her show Full Court Press, the tenant of the White House reacted strongly. “I think we are in a good position. I do not agree with him, " he replied, referring to this highly respected scientist who was part of the White House crisis cell on the coronavirus. "Dr. Fauci said not to wear masks and now says you have to wear them." He said a lot of things, ” he quipped. “We have done a good job. I think that in two, three or four weeks, we will be in an excellent position, ” he added.

The United States, which has crossed the threshold of 130,000 deaths from Covid-19, has known for several weeks an outbreak of infections in the South and West. Donald Trump downplays the constantly breaking records on the number of new cases per day, attributing them to an excess of tests, but multiple health officials, at federal and especially local levels, judge the situation serious.
The federal government announced Tuesday the establishment of some free screening sites in homes where hospitalizations related to coronavirus are on the rise.
