"Hong Kong 01" arrived at the Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay at 0:00 am today and found that a large number of staff were preparing outside the hotel. Among them were workers who set up a lifting platform, installed a new metal frame outside the hotel door, and then hung the Chinese National Emblem of the People's Republic. As for the flagpole outside the hotel, the national flag has not been hung.
At 10 o'clock in the middle of the night yesterday (7th), several senior police officers, including Commissioner of Police Deng Bingqiang and Deputy Commissioner of Police Xiao Zeyu, successively arrived at Metropark Hotel to inspect the situation; Secretary Chen Maobo, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Liang Zhenying, and NPC Standing Committee Tan Yaozong and others arrived at the Metropark Hotel. "One Brother" Deng Bingqiang also took the No. 1 license plate car and returned to the hotel. The seven-person car with the ZG license plate representing the Xiejun stationed in Hong Kong also arrived in the early morning. The police’s key search team members have stepped up searches in the hotel area.
In addition, the police closed Causeway Bay Road in the direction of Tai Hang at about 0:30 in the morning, including the use of multiple large trucks to connect large water horses on both sides of the footpath. A large number of mobile force personnel were on the spot and police dogs were also deployed.
The Transport Department issued a press release at 11:30 pm yesterday (7th) that, due to road conditions, the following roads were temporarily closed and urged motorists to consider switching to other roads:
-A section of Causeway Bay Road between Tin Hau Temple Road and Li Yin Li;
-Lixianli;
-East Street of Lotus Palace; and
-Lotus Palace West Street.
