The Trump administration announced Tuesday to Congress that the United States is withdrawing from the World Health Organization due to the organization's refusal to reform and change its behavior, the US news network CNN reported.
Sen. Robert Menendez, a senior member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee tweeted on social network Twitter: "Congress has been notified that the president has officially withdrawn United States membership from the United Nations World Health Organization in the midst of an epidemic."
Sources told the American News Network that the process of withdrawing membership from the organization would take a little over a year, but they did not commit that it was a final decision. Republican party officials contacted the president last week and asked him to reconsider the decision to sever ties with the organization. According to members of the Republican Party's "China Mission Task Force," the United States could have a greater impact on the organization's conduct.
Last month, Trump announced a complete cessation of U.S. funding for UNHCR institutions, due to the organization's conduct with China as the Corona breaches began and other failures in the organization's conduct.
