The United States recorded a new record for the number of coronavirus infections in a day on Thursday, with more than 65,500 additional cases counted in 24 hours, according to the count at 8:30 p.m. local from Johns Hopkins University.

The total number of cases registered in the country since the start of the pandemic is now more than 3.11 million. The previous record dated Tuesday, with more than 60,200 new cases in one day.
