Very contested by his troops since the leak of a note to the Élysée Palace, in which he shared his recommendations for the cabinet reshuffle, he had to face an internal challenge. MEPs criticize him for not involving them enough in the debate and for not bringing to life the different political sensitivities of a group that leans more to the left than the executive.
A month ago, he even received a critical letter from 30 deputies. Two new parliamentary groups (Ecology, democracy, solidarity, and Action) have recently been created, thus accelerating the flight of LREM deputies, the presidential movement no longer having an absolute majority in the Palais Bourbon.
