" Individual visitors will be able to visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg again from 15 July, subject to the distance and the hygiene measures necessary to guarantee a safe and pleasant visit, in accordance with official directives on the coronavirus ", is- he explained in a statement.

The public will be able to access the Louise-Weiss building, the public gallery of the hemicycle and the Simone-Veil Parlamentarium, but " due to the hygiene measures in force, certain parts of the exhibition are temporarily closed ", according to the communicated.

Large virological screening center

An exhibition for the 20th anniversary of the construction of the Louise-Weiss building is also offered. " The visits are made via a portable multimedia guide available in 24 languages, " added one, adding that it is not necessary to book the visit. Without parliamentary activity since February, the seat of the European Parliament had been made available to the French authorities by its president, the Italian David Sassoli, to help in the fight against the epidemic of coronavirus.

A large virological screening center was installed there in the canteen of the building on May 11. Its operation, planned until the end of July, was stopped at the beginning of the month, due to " the significant improvement in the health situation " in the Bas-Rhin. Over 1,800 people have been screened there. The European Assembly normally meets one week a month, except in August, in Strasbourg, its headquarters, even if a large part of the work is done in Brussels. MEPs are expected to meet for a plenary session in September in the Alsatian capital.
