The body of Nora Quoirin, 15, was found about 2.5 km from the hotel complex where she was with her parents on vacation in August 2019.

Malaysia will launch an investigation next month into the causes of the death of a Franco-Irish teenage girl found dead in the Malaysian jungle, the family’s lawyer said on Friday (July 10th). During this investigation, a court will hear some 64 witnesses and will go to the scene where the body of Nora Quoirin, 15, was found about 2.5 km from the hotel complex where she was with her parents on vacation in August 2019. " The hearings will be held from August 24 to September 4, " said lawyer Sankara Nair.

Malaysian police concluded that the death was the result of an internal hemorrhage, ruling out any criminal act in the death of this adolescent girl with a slight mental handicap and had closed the case.

But according to her family, Nora was " absolutely not " used to running away and they favor a criminal track. They asked the Malaysian authorities to open an investigation to establish the causes of the death of their child. The teenager disappeared from the Dusun Resort hotel the day after her arrival. This tourist complex is located approximately 70 km south of the capital Kuala Lumpur, on the edge of the jungle. A window had been found open in the pavilion where the family lived.

After the girl's disappearance, ten days of intense research had mobilized hundreds of people. The hearings before the court will be broadcast via the Zoom application " so that Nora's parents and other witnesses can follow the proceedings, " said the lawyer.
