Quarantine in Colombia: Government establishes measures for municipalities and agrees closings located in Bogotá

(CNN) - The Colombian government issued a decree this Thursday that, in addition to officializing the extension of the quarantine until August 1, establishes different measures for the reactivation in the municipalities, according to their level of affectation by the coronavirus pandemic.

The norm of the Executive Power stipulates that the Ministry of the Interior may authorize the lifting of the "mandatory preventive isolation" in the municipalities that do not present cases of covid-19 or of low affectation. However, any type of event that involves crowding of people, such as places for recreation and entertainment, bars, discos, casinos, etc., will be prohibited. In the case of losing the condition of being a virus-free or low-impact municipality, that jurisdiction will be subject to the mandatory quarantine measure.

As for the municipalities of moderate and high affectation, in addition to the prohibition of events or places that imply crowding, the restaurants must remain closed, they will only be able to operate by means of electronic commerce, home delivery or to take away. Nor will pools, spas and amusement parks be enabled. Cinemas and theaters will continue to be closed to the public and sports and group exercise are not allowed. Religious services involving crowds will not be enabled, unless you have the authorization of the Ministry of the Interior.

Decree 990 provides that adults over 70 years of age may carry out physical and exercise activities outdoors for a maximum of two hours a day, in accordance with the schedules set by the mayors.

Among the new exceptions to these movement restrictions, the training personnel from different health areas associated with the covid-19 and the activities of the hotel industry stand out.

The Colombian Ministry of Health confirmed until this Thursday 133,973 coronavirus cases and 4,714 deaths.

Closures located in Bogotá

The Government endorsed the proposal of the Mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, to make localized closings that will be between July 13 and August 23 and will be made by grouped localities.

In addition, the government agreed to deliver an additional 59 fans to the capital and expand the testing capacity to 12,000 daily. The City Hall, for its part, agreed to make plans to test how to reopen open-air restaurants in the city.
