Last update date: 2020-07-10 12:00The South China Morning Post reported that Hong Kong Airlines notified bondholders on Wednesday that it would postpone the interest of USD 24.3 million in perpetual bonds due on the 27th of this month.
The report pointed out that in the case of the New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic, which caused most of the airliners of Hong Kong Airlines to be grounded, the delay in the payment of bond interest caused doubts about their longer-term debt solvency. At the same time, the bond's first callable date is the 26th of this month, but the company has not expressed any intention to exercise the call option. Some bondholders believe that since the company has decided to delay, the redemption of bonds may be lower.
The report pointed out that Hong Kong Airlines declined to comment. "Hong Kong 01" has also inquired with the company. A company spokesperson: "As a private company, Hong Kong Airlines will not comment publicly on its financial activities."
