The authorities give up for dead Naya Rivera, the actress of the series "Glee" who fell into a lake

After unsuccessful 24-hour search efforts, authorities believe that actress Naya Rivera, of Puerto Rican origin and one of the most recognized faces in the "Glee" series, died of drowning in a lake north of Los Angeles, California.

Rivera became a very popular face on television for his role as Santana López in the musical series "Glee" (2009-2015), which still has a multitude of fans in Argentina and other Latin countries. 

At a press conference, a county sheriff's spokesman explained that the rescue teams are working with the hypothesis of a drowning, although they have not yet managed to locate the body of the actress, who rented a recreational boat with her 4-year-old son in Wednesday afternoon and did not return, according to the EFE news agency.

"They rented the boat at around 1 pm (local time) for three hours and when it did not return at 4:30 pm, the employees went to look for it; that is when we received the first emergency call," the police official explained.

The lake where Rivera disappeared is in the Los Padres National Forest, a popular recreational area 90 kilometers from Los Angeles, which is visited by numerous visitors to navigate, do water sports and organize camps.

The disappearance gives more force to the nickname of "cursed series" that accompanies "Glee", after the tragic events of some of the protagonists of this format that became a mass phenomenon in a very short time.

The first of them was the protagonist of the series, Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson), 31, whose body was found in 2013 in a Vancouver hotel, who died after alcohol and heroin abuse.

Five years later, Mark Salling (Noah "Puck") took his own life after being at the center of a gruesome affair in which he was found guilty of child pornography and rape.

Meanwhile in 2019, a case of abuse by Blake Jenner (Ryder Lynn) to his ex-partner, also from the series, Melissa Benoist (Marley Rose) was uncovered.
