The President of the United States, Donald Trump, showed himself this Saturday for the first time since the start of the pandemic with a face mask in public, yielding to intense pressure to set an example of public health as the coronavirus advances in that country.
Trump wore a black face mask as he walked the halls of the Walter Reed Military Hospital outside Washington to meet with wounded veterans, according to CNN footage.
Thus, Trump made a shift in his position regarding the use of the chinstrap as part of the actions against the coronavirus. Last week, during an interview, the president said that the country does not need to impose an order for people to circulate with masks, although he clarified, for the first time, that he has "no problem" in using it.
"I support the masks, I think the masks are good. People have seen me wear one," Trump said days ago.
Those comments came after legislators from his Republican Party asked him to wear a mask in public to lead by example and end the politicization of the mask.
