US President Donald Trump, who has so far avoided wearing a mask in public, appeared Sunday in a military hospital in Maryland, wearing a mask on his face.
Ahead of his visit to Walter Reed Hospital, where Trump met with wounded soldiers, he said: "I think when you're in a hospital, where you talk to a lot of soldiers, some after surgery, so it's a great thing to wear a mask." He also emphasized "I've never been against masks but I do believe they have time and place."

This is the first time since the epidemic in which Trump appeared in public with a mask. CNN has previously reported that Trump's consent to wear a mask in public is the result of a heavy "begging" of aides, who implored the president to set an example for his supporters by wearing a mask during a visit.
There was much criticism that the president was not prepared to put on a mask. Even after the federal government recommended that Americans wear masks in places where it is impossible to move away socially, Trump has stated that he is unlikely to wear one himself.
