The singer releases a surprise mini-album of eight organic electro tracks, accompanied by a captivating short film with Finnegan Oldfield, directed by photographer Julien Mignot.

There is an air of freedom around Jeanne Added. While continuing her solo tour for Radiate in September , the French composer delivers Air, a mini-album of eight titles and a surprising short film.

Since Tuesday, a piece of the EP is presented every day on networks and platforms, accompanied by a video that extends the previous one. All the songs are therefore available as of this Friday (at Naïve) and the last sequences of the mini-film - half an hour in total - will follow by next Tuesday.

The part already online has a big surprise in store. On "Air", title track, Jeanne Added sings for the first time in French. The platinum blond hairstylist - now brought back - obviously expects the question.

" Why now ? But it's because of you guys (laughs). I am open to constructive comments, by dint of being asked the question, it made me curious. After several tries put aside, this song came out on its own, I kept it. "

The other titles are in English, but keep the same spontaneity, the guiding principle of an electro here more organic than ever. "I wanted joy, play, interaction" , continues the one who relies on a rhythmic-feline section, with Emiliano Turi, a faithful, on drums and Sylvain Daniel on bass, "one of the most great French musicians of today, whom I have met for years ” .

A "more free and instinctive" album

The double winner of the Victoires de la Musique in 2019 sees Air as a breath, "a space a little more musically free, written without asking too many questions, more instinctive" between all the long-term projects she usually carries out. Like group tours to defend Radiate , his second album, and Both Sides , reinvention of his solo repertoire.

In the short film, we follow three magnetic characters, dressed at the beginning of long coats, which most of the time roam a grandiose nature. "I had this image of three silhouettes walking in the mist," says Jeanne Added, who plays one of these enigmatic beings alongside Finnegan Oldfield - a face more and more familiar with French cinema - and Claude-Emmanuelle Gajan-Maull, unclassifiable actress-dancer-plastic artist-activist trans. "Claude-Emmanuelle, this is only the beginning, we will see a lot, she bursts the screen, it is as if she came to pick you up with her nails and never let you go" , rejoices the composer-performer .

A film to “build a story”

The short film is by Julien Mignot, photographer behind the cover of Radiate , who filmed the breathtaking landscapes in Auvergne and Brittany, two regions he knows well.

“Since there is a fairly strong unity on the disc, our joint idea with Jeanne was to build a story rather than making separate videos, with the adventures of these three characters. Jeanne, Finnegan and Claude-Emmanuelle complement each other perfectly. From the start, when they donned their costumes, the clan was there, ” recounts Julien Mignot for AFP.

For those who follow the career of Jeanne Added, she unveiled her commitment recently, as when she sang alongside Camélia Jordana in events in support of the family of Adama Traoré. “It was Camélia who woke me up (with her strong words, editor's note). I have had this sensitivity for a long time, this rejection of institutional violence, racism, discrimination. But acting, or speaking through social media, I had never really done. I felt that making music the way I did was political enough. But to say nothing more on these subjects is like looking elsewhere ” .

For the rest, we always imagine him at work. "Yes, I started writing for the 3rd album," she agrees. Always "On air".
