In Korea, the mask purchase restriction system was implemented from the end of February to the beginning of March. At that time, the public could buy a limited number of masks in pharmacies for 1,500 won per week, from 2 at the beginning to 10 later.

The Food and Drug Administration said that in the future, market trends such as mask price, quality, and daily output will be strengthened. The government will take timely actions when the supply of masks is unstable, including expanding production, restricting or prohibiting exports, and investing in government reserves. The government will also impose a term of imprisonment of less than 2 years or a fine of 50 million won (approximately HK$323,000) for acts such as hoarding masks in accordance with the Price Stability Law.
